Homeschool Tuition,
Thrive after school
For some children, school is not the best environment for learning. The constraints and lack of support can often result in children becoming disengaged, stressed and unhappy. This is where homeschooling can be a much more enjoyable and effective way to learn for many of these children. They can thrive where lessons are tailored to their needs and work at their own pace in a safe, flexible learning environment.
Whilst, as a parent, you may not have the formal qualifications necessary to become a teacher in a school environment, that does not mean you cannot be an excellent teacher for your children. However, a Tutor can be an excellent resource for you in areas you feel less confident teaching or when life gets busy.
The Tutor Train provides varied and personalised homeschooling programmes that can be delivered part-time, full-time or on an ad-hoc basis, either online or in person (or a combination of both). We can make yours child’s education enriching, fulfilling and as unique and special as they are.

Myth Buster
My child will have no friends
This is very unlikely. While school break times are always a great opportunity for children to make friends and play with their class or year group, home schooling students are more likely to mix with a wider range of age groups and authority figures. Ultimately, with the right activities homeschooling can nurture and grow a child’s social skills just as well as they would be in school.
I don’t have a homeschool room
Having a designated room is not essential. All that is needed is a quiet, uninterrupted space where your child can learn. This may be at the kitchen table, your home office or a room in your local library. You don’t need to try and replicate school, at home. Your home will not be inspected so focus on making the learning space right for your child and your family.
They will say it’s not enough
The education must be:
- full-time;
- efficient – it must achieve what it sets out to achieve;
- suitable – to the child’s age, ability and aptitude and any special educational needs they may have. The education must equip the child for life within the community and must not limit a child’s options in later life.
Case Study – Penny
From initial contact 2 years ago, the Tutor and the Tutor Train has always been professional and enthusiastic.
My child, struggles with her mental health so home-educated. The Tutor has no problem in catering for our needs and my daughter is provided with five days of excellent tuition. Not once has the level of teaching dropped below outstanding.
My child mainly has in-person lessons, with occasional online ones. The way that the Tutor enthuses my daughter in these online lessons is amazing. My child can be sullen and difficult, but the Tutor can change that and turn it around in a few minutes and give a high-quality lesson. At the end of which, my daughter walks away feeling well and in a more positive mood as well as having had great tuition.
I highly recommend the Tutor Train; the communication with me is outstanding. They are passionate about education and delivering the highest quality tuition. They match up tutee to tutor with great consideration, which is the key to a positive, well-run and exceptional company.
Case Study – Ben
I have been supporting Ben’s family with homeschooling for the last 6 months, and I can honestly say it has been one of the most rewarding part of my teaching career. Ben is semi-schooled, which means he attends school for 3 days and is homeschooled for 2, benefiting from both worlds. At school, Ben is developing his social skills and learning from his peers in shared activities. On his homeschooled days, learning is tailored to his needs, often consolidating what he has covered in school and revisiting gaps.
When I started working with Ben, I remember how much he hated maths. His whole demeanor would change – he would often be tearful or angry and was unwilling to participate. I began by working on his learning gaps with many fun, practical activities which didn’t require him to record his answers. I ensured we worked at his pace, allowing him time to practice and question, embedding his understanding. Gradually his confidence increased, and he began to enjoy his lessons. 2 months on, you wouldn’t recognise him. When asked what he loves most about homeschooling, he would say, ‘Maths, I love maths.’ This is my biggest achievement as a Tutor. I adore working with Ben, and knowing the impact I am making means everything to me.
