A Personalised Approach to Home Education
Children learn and Thrive with us
Traditional schooling often relies on a one-size-fits-all approach—rigid timetables, large class sizes, and standardised teaching methods. For many learners, this can lead to feeling unseen, stressed, or disengaged. A lack of personalised support may stifle individual learning styles and interests, while crowded classrooms and constant assessments often increase anxiety, particularly for neurodiverse students or those who need a gentler, more flexible pace.
Home education offers a powerful alternative. It allows children to learn in a way that suits their unique needs, building confidence, curiosity, and wellbeing alongside academic success. With personalised attention and tailored lessons, home schooling helps each child thrive in their own time, at their own speed.
At The Learning Nest, we believe that true learning happens when both mind and heart are equally supported. Led by the Home Education Tutor of the Year 2025 (National Tutoring Awards), The Learning Nest offers expert-led, bespoke home education programmes designed to nurture both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
Mental health and learning go hand in hand. That’s why we weave mindfulness moments, confidence-building activities, and compassionate check-ins into every lesson. Our goal is to create a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported, and ready to succeed.

About our learning Nest
Where everyone belongs

Nurture
We take time to know each child – their interests, strengths and any hurdles – so every lesson feels safe and encouraging.
Our tutors provide ongoing pastoral care through regular check-ins which help children feel valued, heard and safe.
Our cosy online space and one-to-one chats build trust so children ask questions and push themselves.
We send “shout-out” notes and milestone badges to celebrate progress and boost motivation.

Education
We offer live online tuition in small groups, led by experienced, subject-specialist tutors.
Each session is interactive and tailored – combining curriculum-focused lessons with expert guidance to deepen understanding and spark curiosity.
After each lesson, you’ll receive a concise summary with key takeaways and personalised next-step suggestions, so progress stays visible and goals stay within reach.

Support
Small peer groups foster genuine friendships and collaborative learning—your child never feels alone on their journey.
We provide weekly one-to-one sessions for wellbeing check-ins or academic catch-ups, where our tutors really listen to each learner’s needs.
Regular progress reviews keep everyone aligned—students, tutors, and parents work together to celebrate successes and address any challenges promptly.

Together
Online learning groups are organised into areas so they can meet up for fun extracurricular activities that follow their interests – whether it’s a coding club, nature exploration, art workshop or drama session.
Each term, students choose a cross-subject theme to explore – practising negotiation, listening to one another’s ideas, finding common ground, and expressing their own viewpoints.
How It Works
At The Learning Nest, we combine the flexibility of online learning with the connection of in-person community activities—giving home-educated children the best of both worlds.
Small Group Learning
We keep our groups small and personal—never more than 4 learners per group. This ensures that every child receives individual attention, builds meaningful relationships, and learns in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
Grouped by Ability, Needs, and Location
Children are thoughtfully grouped according to:
Ability level
Learning needs
Location
Grouping by location not only helps us match learners with similar schedules and rhythms—it also enables us to offer optional afternoon meet-ups and activities in person. These sessions are designed to build confidence, friendships, and real-world learning experiences beyond the screen.

Our Groups
At the Learning Nest, children join one of our three Learning Flocks—Chickadees (7–11), Starlings (11–14) and Falcons (14–16)—each tailored to their age and stage. Through small-group lessons, local meet-ups and a caring community, every student can spread their wings and thrive together.
Years 3 – 6
Chickadees
In small, nurturing groups, Chickadees explore literacy, numeracy and creativity through playful lessons and themed challenges.
Local meet-ups—story time, nature hunts or art workshops—help build friendships and confidence as they learn.
Years 7 to 9
Starlings
Starlings tackle deeper concepts and hone independent study skills with project-based topics like mini-debates or science experiments.
Interest-led clubs and local activity days (coding, drama, eco-exploration) keep motivation high and peer bonds strong.
Years 10 to 11
Falcons
Falcons focus on GCSE success with expert-led exam strategies, targeted practice and peer mentoring.
Regular wellbeing check-ins balance academic rigour, building resilience and confidence for their next educational leap.
